Let’s uncomplicate printer maintenance by walking through toner replacement. You can follow the process by reading the written instructions provided below (with pictures) or you can watch the video linked at the top of the blog.
Part One: Remove Old or Damaged Drum Cartridge
1. Open your printer’s right-side cover.
2. First, press down on the orange button on the right side of the machine’s face, release the waste toner container and set it aside.
3. Now, you will be able to see your printer’s drums.
4. You will see small orange latches on the face of each drum:
5. Unlock the latch by pulling it down until it is opened. Use the latch as a handle to pull the drum straight out:
6. Put your hand under the drum to cradle it as you remove it from the printer.
7. Do not touch the green roll on the back of the imaging unit. Doing so can cause damage.
Part Two: Insert New Drum Cartridge
1. Take your new drum out of its box.
2. Being careful not to touch the green roll on the back of the unit, you will place your new drum cartridge inside the printer with the green side (drum) facing up.
3. Slide the new drum cartridge inside its slot, wiggling, when necessary, to insert it.
4. Flip the latch back into the locked position.
5. Remove the cleaning rod located to the left of the drum cartridges to clean the lenses.
6. It has a horseshoe shape that matches the horseshoe-shaped opening at the top of each orange latch. Insert the cleaning rod into the opening and move it back-and-forth to clean the lens. Return the cleaning rod to its slot when done.
7. Then, set your waste toner container back in the machine and roll it into place and push it in until you hear a click.
8. Shut the cover on your printer.
And that’s it! You’re done.
Your new transfer roller should be properly installed so you can get back to work without any printer maintenance hassles.
