Things happen.
Unfortunately, we can’t always foresee what damages or accidents will happen in the office every day, and this means that printer parts sometimes die early due to poorly performed maintenance, office accidents, or other unforeseen problems.
Even Long Life Maintenance Items like the 2nd bias transfer roll on your Xerox AltaLink printer sometimes need to be replaced, but at STPT, we believe that your printer should never be a point of stress in your life.

Without the transfer roll, your printer can’t run as optimally or effectively print images. This part of your printer is vital to the health of the machine and needs to be replaced when damaged.
The replacement process for the 2nd bias transfer roll varies between models, which can make it complicated for people who don’t know much about printer maintenance, and the relatively simple process of changing parts can be made even more complicated by poorly written instruction inserts.

Let’s uncomplicate printer maintenance by walking through toner replacement. You can follow the process by reading the written instructions provided below (with pictures) or you can watch the video linked at the top of the blog.
Part One: Remove Old Second Bias Transfer Roll
1. The Second Bias Transfer Roll is the roller inside the left door on your printer that attracts toner to the paper from the transfer belt. To remove it, the first thing you have to do is open the left-side door on your printer.
2. The SBTR is located inside the door on the left-side of your printer. You will see two little white squares on the sides of the roll. On the top and bottom of those, you will see little squeeze tabs.
3. To remove the SBTR, you will squeeze those tabs on both sides of the roll and pull straight out.
Part Two: Insert New Second Bias Transfer Roll
1. That was simple, right? Going back in is almost just as simple. Take your new roll out of the box.
2. Lay the new SBTR in its slot by releasing the squeeze tabs on either side of the white squares.
3. Make sure the SBTR locks in with a click and press down to ensure it is settled in its slot.
4. Shut the cover on your printer.
And that’s it!
Your new second bias transfer roll should be properly installed so you can get back to work without any printer maintenance hassles.
