Keeping up with new model releases and upgrades can be difficult, especially when it comes to something like copiers and printers. But just like cell phones and laptops, new releases mean new features, designed to make your life simpler and your work more efficient. Luckily, we’ve rounded up the top 5 new features of the Xerox AltaLink B8100 and C8100 series rollout.

Overview of the AltaLink B8100 and C8100 Series

The AltaLink B8100 and C8100 series are arguable some of the most robust and versatile machines in Xerox’s catalog. With the capacity to print up to 72ppm and sizes that range up to 11x17”, it’s no wonder that they’re often the machine of choice for large workspaces and offices. For business teams with a high print volume looking for an extensive list of features, and tight printer security, the AltaLink B8100, and C8100 series are the best in the game.

New Features

1. Smart Proximity Sensor

The Smart Proximity Sensor is a reflective sensor that automatically wakes the device whenever a user approaches. After walking away, the device will auto-sleep as well, and administrators can turn these settings on/off or even change the sensor distance.  This feature saves a considerable amount of energy and makes physically turning on/off the device a thing of the past.

2. Multi-Destination Scanning and USB Folders

Scanning documents can be a hassle if you’re not able to choose directly where you’d like to scan them. But with multi-destination scanning, users are now able to navigate into the subfolders of their choosing and select the exact location they’d like to scan to even if it’s a USB folder or drive.

3. Personalization and Customization

Users are now able to completely personalize their own home screens with the different apps and features that they choose, giving them a familiar cohesive layout that will minimize time standing at the device looking for a certain app. IT staff can designate which users have access to certain apps as well, for optimal security measures.

4. Scan Preview

We’ve all scanned something, thought that it was fine, and then after walking back and opening our computer, realized that we didn’t line up the document properly or got a corner cut out. Scan preview allows previewing the scanned document before it’s been saved, so you can rescan immediately in the case of a feed error.

You also can zoom in on images to verify if the color looks good, if the font matches, etc. This way you can feel confident in the documents you are either saving or sending.

5. Fit, Center, and Scaling for Print

Fit, Center, and Scaling allow you to take advantage of a simple page adjustment whenever you copy a document. You will be able to fit the document to the specified page size, center the document on the page, and then scale the document by choosing its size. This way you can fit two pages or more onto just one sheet.
