The imaging unit, also known as the imaging kit, image drum, or drum unit, is a replaceable supply that plays a crucial role in laser printers. It transfers toner and images/text to paper during the printing process.

If your drum is worn, you'll notice spots and/or lines on the pages, and the images will appear lighter than usual. This is a sign that you need a new drum.

If you're facing print quality issues with your Xerox printer, it could be due to a faulty transfer roller. Fortunately, your Xerox machine will notify you when the roller needs replacement. If you're receiving such a notification, don't worry! You can have your printer up and running again within minutes with a few easy steps.  

In this straightforward guide, we'll walk you through replacing the transfer roller on a Xerox printer, specifically the Xerox AltaLink B8090 model.

Step 1: Open the Left Side Cover

First, you’ll need to open the left-side cover of your printer. Find the release latch halfway down the side and lift the cover to open it.

If you own a high-quality multifunction printer (MFP) for your business, you know they are not small machines you can quickly move around. These printers contain heavy materials like metal and can weigh more than 250 pounds, which is difficult for the average person to carry. 

Regardless, it's important to note that when moving MFPs, we do not recommend doing it yourself. Even if you possess superhuman strength levels, a printer's internal parts are delicate and require expert handling.
