Page coverage, which is the amount of toner or ink on a page, is one of the most important things you can learn about your printer/copier.

It is a huge determinator of how much you will spend on printer cartridges throughout the lifespan of your machine.

But, in all honesty, it’s a confusing concept for most to understand. However, the importance of page coverage cannot be overstated.

That’s why we want to use our expertise to tackle the topic of page coverage in a simple and easily digestible way.

No matter where your work—in an office, remote or in a hybrid role—you will likely need to print documents at some point.

For most of us, it’s a commonality we all share in our careers: We need access to a printer to execute our basic document processes.

But which printer do you get? Does it matter what brand or model you buy?

Even for home offices or personal printing, buying the right printer is crucial to avoiding service issues, having to undergo constant supply changes or having to replace your printer with another one if you realize that the previous one just isn’t living up to expectations.

We’ve been a printer/copier company for almost 40 years and have dealt extensively with both Y-Soft and PaperCut and want to use that insight to provide a comparison between the two so you can see which one might be right for you.

Are you in need of a small printer to conduct your basic office tasks?

The Xerox B235, the all-in-one printer we will be reviewing today, could be a fit for you. But in order to know for sure, you need access to the right information.

It can be difficult to find accurate information in the printer/copier industry, and too often, this lack of information leads to you, the consumer, purchasing a machine that is inadequate for your printing needs.

This can directly lead to lost money and frustration as you are forced, once again, to look online for another printer.

How To Calculate Your Monthly Print Volume

Submitted by Karla Metzler on Fri, 11/04/2022 - 09:00

What is the most important thing to consider when buying a new printer/copier?

It actually has nothing to do with the look of the machine, the feel of it or how fast it prints. The answer lies in how much it can safely print per month, or its recommended monthly print volume.

The recommended monthly print volume of a machine is the essential indicator you need to pay close attention to before buying a new office machine.

But the question becomes: How do you figure out your current, or estimated, monthly print volume so that you can buy a machine that can rightly accommodate it?

8 Tips to Increase the Lifespan of Your Printer/Copier

When you’ve spent hundreds, if not thousands of dollars on purchasing a new printer/copier, you want it to last a long time.

A lot of times, though, consumers take their printers for granted; many people think of a printer as a basic functional machine that doesn’t require much care or maintenance.

This thought process can actually get you in trouble, though. Believe it or not, printers are complex machines that can be costly to upkeep if you don’t follow sustainable best practices.

What are the best practices for maintaining your printer?

So, you’re in the market for a new basic printer, which beckons the question: “Does it really matter which one I get?”

When you’re talking about a simple, print-only machine, you’re not going to be paying much money for it.

For example, the Xerox B230, which we will be reviewing today, starts at around $210. For most people, that will not be a heavy cost to endure.

So, if cost is not a significant factor, then what is? Why should you care what brand of machine you get when the cost is more or less the same?

What should you look for in a basic office printer?

If you’re looking at a machine that will sufficiently perform only the basic functions of a printer, you’re not going to be paying a lot of money for it.

For example, the machine we will be covering today, the Xerox B225 multifunction (print, copy, scan, fax) printer, starts at around $300.

That is a price that most companies can afford. But we’ve learned over our almost four decades in the printer/copier industry that buying a machine just because the cost is cheap can bring serious consequences.
